Music for breathing

To help you perform the breathing exercise, you can use the music on this page. Each song is about 10 min long and contains breathing cues telling you when to inhale and exhale. Furthermore, each song is available in six versions, corresponding to six different breathing speeds (4,5 – 5 – 5,5 – 6 – 6,5 – 7 breaths/min). If you don’t know your optimal breathing speed, you can first do the breathing test below.

These are the breathing instructions you should follow when doing resonance frequency breathing:

  1. Please find a comfortable position, either lying or sitting, with your arms and legs uncrossed.
  2. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. We recommend pursing your lips during exhalations because it will help you reduce the air flow.
  3. Breathe continuously, without any pauses or holds between inhalation and exhalation.
  4. Use abdominal breathing (i.e. your upper chest doesn’t move, and the air that you inhale goes down into your belly).
  5. You don’t need to breathe deeper than usual. This is a slow breathing exercise, not a deep breathing exercise.

The following track will help you find out your optimal breathing speed:
