4.4 Demonstrating the competence

How can I demonstrate my previously earned skills, knowledge and competence?

When seeking a job or study place it is important that you can demonstrate previously earned professional competence if you have worked in a field earlier. In that way in education part of your experience may be recognized as a part of your studies. When seeking a job it is important to demonstrate the skills, which you have to prove the employee that you have competence at certain filed.

Demonstrating the competence come about with the following ways:

• You can prove your competence with official work and study degree documents concerning your earlier work experience or study degrees.

• You can ask your competence to be recognized in educational institutions after being accepted as a student. The educational institutions have an Ahot-process. (Ahot means recognizing previously earned competence). Showing the competence can take a place in a work practice, where you show that you are able to manage a certain work task needed in a profession. You can show your competence orally, for ex. participating in an oral test, you can show competence by writing different assignments. Recognition process can only take a place in educational institutions if you are accepted in as a student.
