2.6 Where to seek help?

Overloaded life situation, stress and crises are possible to relief by yourself. Use the material and practices in this e-guide and you may find the following contacts helpful:

  • From the webpages, you can find information about the crises and stress in different languages (eg. Finnish, English Persian, Arabic, Russian and Somali) you find different practices, too, to use as a self -help there

  • The person´s own resources are not always enough. Then it is time to ask help from other people if your or your closed ones condition gets worse:

  • Friends: Discuss your situation, thought and feelings with your close friend, family members or relatives. Sometimes speaking up about your feelings can relieve the painful situation, even if your closed ones can´t resolve the problem causing the challenging situation

  • Peer support: Are there any discussion groups in reception center where you can relate to other people struggling with the same issues. Sometimes it is a relief to notice that there are other people in the same situation. You are not alone.

  • The nurse reception in Reception center: In Finland, the nurse is the one who makes the first evaluation and plans about the need for cure and treatment together with the patient. If discussion with other people does not make you feel better, please make a contact with the nurse. She/he will evaluate your situation and guide you to the doctor or specific care. In reception center, the services of the nurse are without payment

  • The crises center: In the biggest cities in Finland, there are crises centers specialized in the problems as self-destructive behavior. In the city of Jyväskylä, there exists Crises Center Mobile where it is possible to seek help

  • The private clinics: It is possible to seek help from private sectors nurse and doctors services too. However, the private sector services are chargeable.
