Competence Assessment
Competence will be evaluated constantly in different ways. In educational institutions, the teachers and your student mates will make assessments. In everyday life and in work the supervisors, management and co-workers will assess your work performance. In following the different assessment, types are presented:
Self-evaluation

Self-assessment is part of evaluation and recognition of competence

Self-assessment means that you evaluate your own competences as well as the development objects

Self-assessment is usually difficult. That is why it is practiced at school and studies

Reading, doing, seeking information and planning will support your self-assessment skills
How to practice your self-assessment skills
Self-assessment is kind of “mirror” about how you see your skills, knowledge and your competence.
It is possible to practice with the following ways:

to prepare a form: valmis lomake (in Finnish language)

to write a short description about your skills and strengths

Portfolio (selection of work tasks you have accomplished, for example pictures, narratives ect.) Portfolio includes a CV. (= personal record sheet)

Description of matters which have been included your work

A test where you can show your competence and how to accomplish a work task

Description about the problem in work task and how did you resolve or how could you that problem
The assessment made in reception center

In reception centers usually do preliminary assessment of your competence

Prepare for this by understanding the meaning of competence and by thinking beforehand how to explain what you can do

In order to be admitted into the educational institutions as a student your level of knowledge and skills has to be evaluated. This is important in a point of view to choose the right and proper educational level

The counsellors at educational institutions will give more information that is specific to you for applying to school. They will also give you information about the evaluation process
