What is student sittning?

Sittning often shortened as Sits, is a typical feast of academic students in the Nordic countries. Students eat, sing drinking songs, toasts and also follow shows and sits usually have some kind of theme, which defines the dress code. Toastmasters are leading the party people through the feast. In Sits there are some rules and standards that need to be followed. The rules are often told in the Sits’ invitation. There are also food served which is usually main and side salad.

There is ready seating order which need to be followed. In most Sits men and women are seated alternately.  If you have avec you will sit next to one or opposite one. Sits are held in the early evening and after sits the bar will be opened for everyone.
